Ethical Sourcing

A Guide to Coffee Sourcing at Satellite
More Topics
The availability of green coffee beans is ever-changing due to forces of nature and political climates. Whenever possible we buy beans from small farms and cooperatives. We also purchase Fair Trade and/or organic coffees when available.

Finding Beans

We search for green beans in a variety of ways. Talking to coffee brokers, and reading & traveling keep us up on what’s growing in the world and when it’s at peak harvest.

Selecting and Purchasing

We request many samples of beans that catch our interest. Samples are roasted then cupped.
Our Roastmaster is also a professional taster who possesses a highly trained, developed palate. Many thousands of pounds of beans will be bought based on his assessment of these small sample bags.
